MARY MOTHER OF JESUS

Many people today think their faith is great.   Well many have very little faith at all. The reason I say this is if anyone had true faith it is Mary.

She also knew the laws and customs well and, honored God with her faith and service. She even had great courage for one so young.   Mary treated everyone graciously and prayed daily for the people.   The reason I have mentioned her knowledge of the Jewish laws and her faith is the fact that she was about the age of 12 or 13 when she was visited by the angel Gabriel.

Mary was told that she was highly favored by God, the Lord is with you.   Luke 1:28. She was chosen by God to bear the child who one day would be the King and save the people from their sins. She was puzzled at first because she hadn’t been with a man in this respect.   She asked how this would happen?   The angel told her the Holy Spirit would over shadow her and that is how she would become pregnant.   Once she understood, she said so be it to me according to your word.   Luke 1:30.   She truly had a great measure of faith to be able to say this knowing that once Joseph found out he could have had her tried as an adulterous and she could be stoned to death and he could also divorce her legally. According to the Jewish laws when you were engaged you were considered married.

You see this was God’s plan, so nothing was going to happen to His mighty plan to save His children. Yes we are His children. Mary knowing all this realized that she would have her son but a short time.   She did not know that Jesus would start doing what his father sent him to do at such a young age either.

She would know Jesus as her son growing up. When he was crucified she would also know him as her Savior. Through out her life she never lost her faith in God.   I wonder how many of us would have the same level and trust that Mary did?   How would we have done things had we been where she was?   I pray that we as God’s children can have as much faith as Mary had.
